TRENTON, NJ—Jamal Wilson, a 49-year-old resident of Trenton, admitted to several charges related to narcotics distribution and firearms possession in a federal court today. U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger confirmed that Wilson pleaded guilty to charges including possession of fentanyl and cocaine with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

The charges against Wilson stemmed from a broad investigation that began in July 2020 by the FBI and other law enforcement agencies into illegal activities in Trenton neighborhoods notorious for drug trafficking and gun violence. This investigation focused on areas including the Grand Court Villas, East State Street, South Olden Avenue, and the Garfield Avenue Playground.

Documents presented in court revealed Wilson as a significant trafficker in fentanyl and cocaine. The probe led to the discovery and seizure from Wilson’s residence and stash house of over two kilograms of cocaine, 450 grams of cocaine base, more than a kilogram of fentanyl, four firearms, and two suppressors.

Wilson’s guilty plea today also included admissions to two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. In August 2022, Wilson, along with 12 others, was charged with various drug trafficking and firearms offenses. U.S. District Judge Georgette Castner presided over the proceedings, marking a significant conclusion to parts of the investigation targeting criminal activities in Trenton.
