TOMS RIVER, NJ – Toms River Mayor Mo Hill formed a new political party in January in an effort to take total control of the Township of Toms River, including the town government, school board, and fire districts. On Tuesday, Mo Hill’s new club was defeated across the board in the annual fire commissioner election.
Mo Hill turned to ally Brian Geoghegan, brother of his running mate, Councilman Kevin Geoghegan to seize control of the two Toms River Fire Districts.
In District 2, the Hill team lost in a landslide defeat to Jason Duff and Richard Heroy. Hill’s team of Brian Geoghegan and Daniel Prodoehl took in big numbers in North Dover, but overall were crushed by their opponents.

The District 2 budget passed as did funding for the fire academy.

In District 1, Hill backed candidate John Sudia lost to Raymond Latshaw 615-405 in the unofficial results. Voters also approved the budget, new equipment and funding for the fire academy. A vote for new vehicles for the fire chiefs just barely passed by 10 votes.
