Nashua, NH – A 36-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges after investigators say a 3-month-old infant suffered serious injuries in a case that began with a state child welfare notification. The arrest followed a rapid investigation by local detectives, culminating in eight counts of first-degree assault tied to domestic violence.

The Nashua Police Department said it received a notification from the Department of Children, Youth and Families on March 13 regarding an infant with significant injuries. Detectives assigned to the Special Investigations Division launched an inquiry to determine how the injuries occurred.

According to investigators, evidence developed during the case led to Drew Babcock, of Nashua, as the alleged cause of the child’s injuries. Detectives subsequently obtained an arrest warrant charging him with eight counts of first-degree assault – domestic violence, each classified as a Class A felony.

Court proceedings and custody status

Babcock was taken into custody on March 13 and held without bail. He is scheduled to appear for arraignment at the 9th Circuit – District Division – Nashua Court on Monday at 1:00 p.m.

Officials have not released additional details about the infant’s condition.
