Halloween shocker as Union County player snags $500K lottery prize
Trenton, NJ – A Union County resident got more than candy this Halloween after hitting a $500,000 jackpot on a scratch-off ticket bought in Elizabeth, leaving just one top prize left in the game.
The winning $10 Triple Match ticket was sold at Gomez Taveras Super, located at 1102 Elizabeth Avenue. The Halloween-day win made the lucky player the second person to claim a top prize in the game, which originally launched with three.
In a separate big win last week, a player in Atlantic County claimed a $200,000 top prize in the $5 UNO scratch-off game. That ticket was sold on October 28 at 7-Eleven #24422 on Atlantic Avenue in Atlantic City. Like the Triple Match game, only one top prize remains in circulation for UNO.
The New Jersey Lottery has not released the names of the winners, and both games are still active with one top prize each yet to be claimed.
The Lottery has contributed nearly $34.7 billion to the state since 1970, currently funding the public employee pension system under a multi-decade agreement signed into law in 2017.
