Newark Police Need Help To Nab Scooter Thief

NEWARK, NJ – A man suspected of stealing a Hiboy S2 Electric 8.5 scooter from a South 6th Street residence is being sought by Newark police.

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz FragĂ© is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the male suspect involved in the September 4 theft. Surveillance footage captured the event at approximately 12:23 p.m., showing the suspect taking the scooter, valued at $350, from the hallway of a residential building. Another male, sitting on the building’s porch, accompanied the suspect during the theft.

The suspect has a dark brown complexion and dreadlocks, and was seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, red underwear, and gray/white/neon Air Max 90 sneakers. His accomplice also has a dark brown complexion, a beard, and a mustache, and was wearing a white T-shirt, white sneakers, and a blue NY Yankees cap.

Director FragĂ© has encouraged anyone with information about the suspect or his accomplice to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Tips provided to Crime Stoppers will remain confidential and could result in a reward.
