NEWARK, NJ – Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a 29-year-old man wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting earlier this month.
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. said investigators are seeking Azaiah Baynard regarding a gunfire incident reported on November 14 around 4:01 a.m.
The city’s ShotSpotter detection system alerted police to shots fired in the 300 block of Chancellor Avenue.
Responding officers found two 9mm shell casings nearby on Leslie Street but no victims at the scene.
Director Miranda urged anyone with information about Baynard’s whereabouts to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
All tips remain anonymous, and information leading to an arrest or resolution of the case could qualify for a cash reward.
Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the Newark Police Division’s website at npd.newarkpublicsafety.org.
Authorities have not released further details about the investigation or the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
