NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Antonio James Hill, 33, of Newport News, was sentenced today to three years and one month in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. The sentence follows Hill’s involvement in selling a firearm and ammunition while being legally prohibited from doing so due to prior felony convictions.

According to court documents, on January 25, 2022, Hill sold a .38 caliber handgun and five rounds of ammunition to a confidential informant for $200 during a controlled operation. At the time of the sale, Hill was also found to be wearing a shoulder holster containing another firearm.

Hill has a history of felony convictions, including malicious wounding, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and assaulting a corrections officer while incarcerated. As a convicted felon, federal law prohibits him from possessing firearms or ammunition.
