No Kings Protest

Trenton, NJ – A nationwide wave of anti-Trump demonstrations under the banner “No Kings” is expected to hit New Jersey on October 18, with rallies planned in several towns despite many event sites being kept private until the day of action.

The effort, organized by the No Kings Coalition, builds on a June campaign that drew millions nationwide and overshadowed Donald Trump’s birthday parade. Protesters then filled streets across the U.S. with the slogan “America has no kings,” aimed at countering what they call authoritarian overreach by the former president.

Organizers say October’s demonstrations are designed to send the same message. Events in New Jersey are scheduled in Toms River, Highland Park and Rahway, with times and some locations already circulating publicly. In Toms River, demonstrators plan to gather from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in front of the VA Clinic. Highland Park will see a rally from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., while Rahway’s protest is slated for 4 to 5:30 p.m., with the exact address shared only with registrants.

The coalition says it is responding to Trump’s second-term policies, which critics argue have eroded civil liberties and targeted vulnerable communities. Among their concerns: immigration enforcement tactics, voting restrictions, healthcare rollbacks and the handling of gun violence.

“No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings,” reads the movement’s rallying cry, which leaders describe as a call to defend democracy and keep power in the hands of the people. Organizers emphasize that the events are intended to remain peaceful while demonstrating widespread opposition to concentrated executive power.
