MORRISTOWN, NJ – The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office has announced the sentencing of Jermaine Edwards, formerly of Morristown, in a fatal hit-and-run case.
On Friday, Edwards received a 5-year custodial sentence with an additional 5-year license suspension upon release.
Edwards pled guilty to second-degree Knowingly Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death related to an incident on August 12.
Morristown Police officers responded to a crash at Lafayette Avenue and Lackawanna Place, where a male pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle that fled the scene.
Investigations led to Edwards’ identification as the driver. He has been in custody at the Morris County Correctional Facility since his arrest. Judge Ralph E. Amirata presided over the sentencing in this case.
