NUTLEY, NJ – A 37-year-old man was taken into custody after Nutley police responded to a report of a person entering a parked vehicle on Bloomfield Avenue earlier that morning. Officers canvassed the area and identified a suspect matching the description provided by the caller, leading to an on-scene investigation that expanded beyond a single incident.

Police said the suspect, identified as Michael Granberry, was located nearby and detained without incident. Authorities later confirmed that surveillance footage reviewed during the investigation helped establish his involvement.

According to the Nutley Police Department, officers found Granberry in possession of several items believed to have been taken from other vehicles in the same neighborhood. The department stated, “Police responded to reports of an unknown party entering a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence on Bloomfield Ave.” The statement continued, “Through further investigation and review of surveillance footage, Mr. Granberry was positively identified as the actor and taken into custody without incident.”

Officials indicated the discovery of additional property connected the suspect to multiple vehicle burglaries in the area, broadening the scope of the initial complaint.
