NYPD Officer Arrested for DWI on St. Patrick’s Day

NEW YORK, NY — Edward Lawyerr, a 35-year-old male and NYPD Lieutenant, was arrested and charged within the 49th Precinct’s jurisdiction. The off-duty officer faces charges of driving while intoxicated (DWI) and refusing to take a breath test.

Records show he is a lieutenant at 46th Precinct since February 2024. He has also served at 52nd Precinct45th PrecinctManhattan Court SectionPatrol Borough Bronx He was hired in July 2010 and made $147,000 last year.

In 2020, Lawyerr was suspended for 45 days after he illegally accessed police records and disseminated information collected during that illegal search.
