TOMS RIVER, NJ – The Ocean County Health Department has reported 7,884 new confirmed positive COVID-19 cases over the past seven days. The department does not publicly release data regarding age groups or severity of the disease on a day-to-day basis to further break down those cases. The department also doesn’t release data about the patient’s vaccination status.

The 7,884 cases represent 7.5% of all cases reported since the start of the pandemic in March of 2020. These totals do not represent at-home positive tests, state at-home testing, or unreported cases.

Most omicron patients are experiencing cold and flu-like symptoms, according to the New Jersey Department of Health and U.S. Centers for Disease Control.

Across Ocean County, 42 long-term healthcare facilities have reported COVID-19 outbreaks with 308 new resident cases and 509 staff cases. No new deaths have been reported in those facilities, according to the state figures.

Deaths across Ocean County are down considerably since the first two waves of the pandemic, according to county figures.
