Barnegat crews battle structure fire with mutual aid support as investigation begins
BARNEGAT, NJ – Firefighters in Barnegat responded to a structure fire Monday night that drew multiple mutual aid companies and emergency responders to the scene before the flames were successfully knocked down and the site turned over for investigation.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., Barnegat Fire Company was dispatched to a reported structure fire. Deputy Chief 1110 was the first to arrive and confirmed a working fire at the location. Crews quickly began suppression efforts with assistance from several neighboring departments and emergency services.
The fire was brought under control and extinguished, after which the scene was turned over to the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office, which will lead the investigation into the cause.
Responding mutual aid companies included Stations 36, 47, 61, and 60, along with Barnegat First Aid and Stafford EMS. Barnegat Police Department provided support with road closures throughout the duration of the response.
Barnegat Fire Co. also expressed appreciation to Wawa on Bayshore Drive for providing donated refreshments to help firefighters and EMS personnel recover after the incident.
