PHILADELPHIA — A surge of violence in Philadelphia’s prison system continued Saturday as a man was stabbed and rushed to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

Authorities said no weapon was recovered, and the scene was not held. An arrest has been made, though police have not released further details about the suspect or the motive.

This incident marks the third stabbing in the city’s correctional facilities within a 24-hour span. On Friday night, two inmates, ages 30 and 31, were attacked at the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility (CFCF). Both men sustained stab wounds to the back and head and remain hospitalized in stable condition.

Earlier in the week, a separate stabbing occurred at the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center (PICC). The victim, a 19-year-old inmate awaiting trial for the murder of Temple University Police Sgt. Christopher Fitzgerald, was stabbed multiple times, including in the head. He survived with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

The wave of stabbings has raised serious concerns about security lapses in Philadelphia’s prison system. Investigators are working to determine whether the incidents are connected and to identify weaknesses that may have allowed the violence to occur.
