PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – A 34-year-old woman is in extremely critical condition after being struck by a car Friday night in North Philadelphia, authorities said.
The crash happened around 10:15 p.m. on the 700 block of West Lehigh Avenue in the city’s 26th District. Investigators said the victim was crossing the street eastbound when she was hit by a silver Mercedes.
The driver, described as a Black female, initially stopped and got out to check on the victim before returning to her car. Police said she stayed on the scene as medics transported the woman to Temple University Hospital, but about a half hour later — before the investigation was complete — the vehicle was seen leaving.
The Philadelphia Police Crash Investigation Division is handling the case. No charges have been announced.
