Pittsburgh, PA – Pittsburgh Police officers received a report of an assault that occurred around 2 a.m. on Friday, near the intersection of Semple and Ward streets. The incident involved a male victim who encountered a group of approximately eight males.

The victim reported that the group noticed his Star of David necklace and began hurling insults related to Israel. A verbal altercation ensued which escalated when at least three of the males started to punch and kick the victim, resulting in a bruised lip. A bystander eventually intervened, interrupting the assault.

The victim initially reported the incident to University of Pittsburgh Police. However, since the assault happened off-campus, Pittsburgh Police took over the case. The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police is now collaborating with FBI Pittsburgh in an effort to identify all suspects involved in the incident.

The investigation into this case remains active. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Pittsburgh Police Zone 4 at (412) 422-6520 or FBI Pittsburgh at (412) 432-4000.
