Plea bargain earns female hotel room shooter 25 years for homicide

Runnemede, N.J. – Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay is announcing a plea agreement in a 2020 homicide.

On January 31, 2022, Brandy M. Lee, 35, of Runnemede, pled guilty to first degree Aggravated Manslaughter for the shooting death of 26-year-old Kevin D. Owens III inside a motel room on the 100 block of East 9th Avenue, Runnemede, NJ. The shooting occurred on June 22, 2020, around 3:30 a.m.

Assistant Prosecutor Sonja Furlow handled the case for the State. Lee is expected to be sentenced to 25 years in New Jersey State Prison and must serve 85% of her sentence before she will be eligible for parole.

The sentencing is scheduled for March 4, 2022, before the Honorable Yolanda C. Rodriguez, J.S.C.

Lee is being held at the Camden County Correctional Facility pending sentencing.
