Police continue to seek gunman who shot up vigil held for Tavion Walker

On July 15, 2020, 20-year-old Tavion Walker was murdered while in the alley east of North 4th St. and just west of East 7th Ave. Sources stated that Walker met up with several males he knew as friends, and the exact circumstances that led to the shooting were unknown.

On July 17, 2020, family and friends of Walker held a vigil in his memory at Weinland Park. Several males walked to the vigil from the area of 4th St. and Summit St.

When they reached the playground area they drew handguns and fired upon vigil attendees. 4 people were struck. The shooters then ran back to the areas of 4th and Summit St..It’s believed the same individuals are responsible for the murder of Tavion Walker.

It is also believed that the same individuals are linked to an incident on July 16, 2020 where more than a dozen shots were fired at vehicles and homes in the same areas where the homicide took place.
