DUI checkpoint in Baltimore leads to multiple arrests and dozens of citations

BALTIMORE, Md. — A DUI checkpoint in Baltimore resulted in multiple arrests and dozens of citations as part of a coordinated effort to crack down on impaired driving.

The checkpoint was conducted March 20 in the 3100 block of Boston Street by the Baltimore Police Department, Maryland State Police and the Maryland Transportation Authority.

During the operation, officers made contact with 590 motorists and distributed safety brochures.

Police said four individuals were arrested for driving under the influence at the checkpoint.

Additional enforcement efforts in the surrounding area led to eight vehicle stops, 25 written citations and four more DUI arrests.

Authorities said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety and reduce impaired driving.
