BAYVILLE, NJ— A significant traffic accident involving two vehicles occurred on May 6, 2024, at the intersection of Route 9 and Ocean Gate Drive, prompting a large response from local law enforcement and emergency services.

Patrolmen Michael Bulwinski, Joseph Chester, Justin Heffernan, along with Sgt. Robert Flanegan, Patrolman Ryan Drivanos, and Patrolman Alex Houle from the local police department, were dispatched to the scene. They were supported by EMS and the Bayville Fire Department, who provided immediate assistance.

The investigation at the scene revealed that a 2021 Nissan Sentra, driven by 25-year-old Niyanna Carrero of Linden, was making an illegal left turn towards Ocean Gate Drive when it collided with a 2004 Toyota Prius. Carrero did not sustain any injuries from the incident.

The driver of the Toyota Prius, however, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to JSUMC for treatment. Following the accident, Carrero was issued summonses for careless driving and making an improper turn, highlighting the importance of adhering to traffic laws to ensure road safety.

The above incident is not recent, but was just recently announced by the Berkeley Township Police Department.
