Police respond to multiple altercations at alexandria city high school

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Two students at Alexandria City High School have been charged with assault and battery after multiple physical altercations broke out in school hallways and the cafeteria on Wednesday, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

The incidents occurred around noon and were handled by two school resource officers stationed on campus. One student sustained injuries and was taken by their parents to a clinic for treatment. Police are investigating a media report of a student being stabbed, but stated that “nothing at this point in the investigation substantiates that claim.”

Separately, an adult woman captured on video lying on the ground at the school reported falling and refused medical attention. She declined to file a police report, and no other individuals were transported for medical care.

In response to the incidents, the APD has increased patrols around the school and nearby neighborhoods to prevent further disturbances. Alexandria Police Chief Tarrick McGuire emphasized the importance of maintaining safe learning environments, stating, “Inciting violence and disorder within a school is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”
