Wilkes-Barre, PA – City police are investigating a robbery that left a 26-year-old woman injured after she was attacked near a hotel on Kidder Street late Monday night.
Officers responded around 10:40 p.m. on February 17 to reports of an assault victim at a hotel in the area. When police arrived, they found the woman suffering from facial redness and swelling. She told officers she had been walking back from a nearby McDonald’s with food when an unknown man attacked her from behind.
According to investigators, the victim said she was passing the IHOP restaurant on Kidder Street around 9:45 p.m. when she was shoved, struck in the face, and knocked to the ground. The suspect grabbed her food before fleeing west toward McDonald’s. The victim declined medical treatment at the scene.
Suspect fled on foot toward McDonald’s
Police described the suspect as a heavyset man of average height wearing a black Nike ski mask, a black hooded sweatshirt, black Nike sweatpants, and white Jordan sneakers with blue soles. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and asking anyone with information to come forward.
