WOODBRIDGE, VA — On Thursday at 2:27 PM, police were called to a home on Castlebridge Ln. due to an assault report. A 20-year-old woman witnessed an acquaintance, later identified as Prince Jakim Isaiah Maldonado, trespassing in her backyard.
As she tried to enter her home, Maldonado followed and forcefully entered, assaulting her and brandishing a firearm. He prevented her from calling emergency services by breaking her phone, although another family member was able to alert the police. Maldonado fled before officers arrived but was arrested on May 20.
The victim sustained minor injuries. It was later discovered that Maldonado had taken the victim’s vehicle without permission, which was subsequently recovered and returned. Maldonado, 24, from Dumfries, faces multiple charges including strangulation, armed burglary, abduction, and illegal possession of a firearm, among others.
He remains in custody with a pending court date.
He was captured by the U.S. Marshals.

“I was in disbelief!” the winner told Lottery officials, adding that he asked his wife to verify the numbers because he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
The winning numbers drawn on July 15 were 2, 7, 18, 29 and 38, with Powerball 16.
The winner selected his own numbers using his children’s birthdays.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.
The odds of matching all six numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million, while the overall odds of winning any Powerball prize are 1 in 25.

According to the Virginia Lottery, the Fauquier County resident stopped at Mega Mart, 8328 Shoppers Square in Manassas, and decided to purchase a Money Money Money scratch-off instead of his usual Mega Millions ticket.
The change paid off immediately.
The man scratched the ticket while sitting in his car and discovered he had won the game’s $150,000 top prize.
Lottery officials said he began shaking after realizing what he had won.
Once the initial shock wore off, he called his wife and children to share the news. The family was stunned by the unexpected win.
The winner told the Virginia Lottery he plans to save the prize money.
Money Money Money is one of the Virginia Lottery’s scratch-off games, offering prizes ranging from $5 to $150,000.

Police say both men now face felony charges
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A shooting investigation in Virginia Beach has resulted in felony charges against both the suspected gunman and the man who was wounded, according to police.
The shooting was reported at approximately 1:45 p.m. on July 31 after emergency dispatchers received calls about a shooting in the 500 block of Marsh Duck Way and reports of gunfire in the 900 block of Atlantis Way.
Responding officers found a 22-year-old Virginia Beach man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital in stable condition.
The Virginia Beach Police Department’s Homicide Unit took over the investigation and arrested 18-year-old Quatavious Reid of Virginia Beach.
Police charged Reid with aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a trigger activator, commonly known as a switch, and an extended magazine.
Investigators also arrested the 22-year-old shooting victim, charging him with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Police said both men are being held without bond.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A Virginia Beach man got the surprise of his life while eating breakfast after checking a Cash 5 with EZ Match ticket and discovering it was worth $220,003.
The man, who claimed his prize anonymously as permitted under Virginia law, said he looked at his ticket during breakfast and realized he had matched all five numbers to win the jackpot.
