Police say assault rifles high-capacity magazines and gun-making equipment were discovered in Huntington Station residence

HUNTINGTON STATION, N.Y. — A routine probation check turned into a major weapons bust after Suffolk County police uncovered a large cache of firearms, ammunition equipment and gun-making tools inside a Huntington Station home, authorities said.

The 37-year-old Huntington Station man was arrested following the search, which was conducted after Suffolk County Probation officers performed a compliance check, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

Investigators recovered four assault rifles, a shotgun, a revolver and a stun gun from the residence.

Police also seized high-capacity magazines along with multiple gun-making parts and tools, including receivers, molds and a drill press.

Authorities said the man was on probation related to a stolen property charge at the time of the search.

He now faces multiple felony weapons possession charges as well as controlled substance charges.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Squad assisted Suffolk County Police and probation officers during the investigation.

Police have not yet released the suspect’s name.
