QUEENS, NY – Supreme Gooding, a 19-year-old resident of West 41st Street in Manhattan, was sentenced to eight years in prison on Thursday following a series of purse snatchings targeting older women in March 2022. Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz delivered the sentence in relation to two incidents that Gooding admitted to involvement in.

In the first incident, on March 16, 2022, surveillance footage captured Gooding and co-defendant Robert Whack, 32, running with a stolen purse. The purse belonged to a 75-year-old woman who had been entering her apartment building on 64th Street in Woodside.

In the second incident on March 26, 2022, Gooding and Whack attacked a 61-year-old woman and two Good Samaritans who intervened. The three victims were taken to a Queens hospital with life-threatening injuries, including stab wounds, collapsed lungs, and a fractured rib. Whack, of St. John’s Place in Brooklyn, awaits trial on multiple charges.
