fQUEENS, NY – Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz has announced the arraignment of Marcin Pieciak on murder and weapon possession charges following the fatal stabbing of Sarah McNally. McNally, a 41-year-old bartender, was working at a Maspeth tavern when the incident occurred.
Marcin Pieciak, a 36-year-old resident of Glendale, has been charged with second-degree murder and two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The tragic event unfolded on March 30, at around 6:30 p.m., at the Ceili House Bar in Maspeth. Pieciak is accused of stabbing McNally multiple times and attempting to then commit suicide.
District Attorney Katz described the incident as a shocking and unprovoked attack, emphasizing the community’s devastation and the family’s loss. Katz affirmed the commitment to ensuring accountability for the crime.
Following the stabbing, Pieciak attempted to flee the scene but was detained by a bar patron until the police arrived. Authorities recovered two knives at the scene. McNally was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Queens Criminal Court Judge Julieta Lozano has scheduled Pieciak’s next court appearance for April 5. Pieciak faces a potential life sentence if found guilty.
