Quick stop for a snack turned into a $50k win for lucky ohio man

ROSSFORD, Ohio – A hotdog craving and a bit of luck turned into a $50,000 win for James, who snagged the final Billion scratch-off ticket at Speedway #3642 on Dixie Highway and walked away with a life-changing prize.

James, who had noticed the lone ticket lingering for three days, decided to buy it after his shift, asking the cashier for “the last ticket” before heading to his sister’s house. Scratching the ticket in his truck, he uncovered a 500X symbol but stopped, deciding to let his sister reveal the rest of the prize.

At her house, the two were in disbelief as the full $50,000 win became clear. They scanned the ticket using the lottery app to confirm the prize. After federal and state taxes, James will take home approximately $36,000, which he plans to save.

Billion is a $50 scratch-off game with a top prize of $1 million a year for 20 years. As of Dec. 13, three top prizes remain unclaimed.
