Rider injured in easter sunday motorcycle crash

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – An incident involving a Silver Suzuki GSXR 1300 motorcycle led to the hospitalization of an 18-year-old man on Sunday, March 31. Manchester Township Police were called to the scene around noon at the intersection of Lincoln Boulevard and McMahon Street in the Whiting section of the township, following reports of a motorcyclist down with injuries.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the motorcycle on its side and the rider, identified as Nicolas Ferrer of Medford, lying injured nearby. The preliminary investigation indicated that Ferrer was heading north on McMahon Street when his motorcycle’s peg struck the pavement during a turn attempt, causing him to lose control. Despite efforts to regain control, the motorcycle left the roadway and slid to a stop in a driveway.

Ferrer, who was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the accident, was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ, with non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency Medical Technicians from Manchester Township, Paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and Priced Rite Towing were among those assisting at the scene.

The investigation, led by Ptl. Sage Sysol of the Traffic Safety Unit, is ongoing, with driver error and speed identified as contributing factors. In light of this event, the Manchester Township Police Department is urging motorists to be vigilant of motorcycles on the road and reminding motorcyclists of the importance of wearing approved helmets and safety gear.
