Toms River, NJ – A robbery suspect who targeted a Wawa along Route 37 just after midnight is being sought as township detectives ask residents to help identify him.

The man is accused of robbing the convenience store at 179 Route 37E at about 12:18 a.m. Sunday before fleeing the area.

Investigators released a detailed description of the suspect and asked anyone who recognizes him to contact a township detective by phone or email.

According to the department’s statement, the incident unfolded at approximately 12:18 a.m. at the Wawa located at 179 Route 37E.

The suspect was described as entering the store and committing a robbery before leaving the location.

No additional details about the interaction inside the store, any threats made, or whether a weapon was displayed were included in the public statement.

The department did not report any injuries connected to the robbery.

The suspect is described as a Black male in his early 20s, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a thin build and long dreadlocks.

Detectives ask public to help identify suspect

Police said the man was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a face covering at the time of the robbery.

He was also described as wearing clothing that included a hood pulled up over his head, though no specific colors were detailed beyond the sweatshirt and covering.

Investigators asked anyone who may recognize the suspect from his physical description or clothing to come forward.
