BALTIMORE, MD — A Baltimore resident has defied the odds, winning his second $50,000 prize in two years using the same set of lucky numbers in the Maryland Lottery’s Pick 5 game.

Paul Cypress, a longtime lottery enthusiast, claimed his latest prize after checking his ticket during a Christmas party. The numbers he used mirrored those that earned him the same prize in the previous year.

Cypress, who has been playing lottery games for over 35 years, shared that he plans to use his winnings to secure his children’s future and save the remainder. “Absolutely, most definitely want to keep playing,” he told lottery officials.

The winning ticket was sold at Jessup Shell, located at 2753 Annapolis Road in Hanover. The retailer will receive a $500 bonus for selling the prize-winning ticket.

Cypress’s remarkable luck shows that persistence and a little bit of faith in lucky numbers can sometimes pay off.
