Schenectady Police Department Warns of Multiple Overdose Deaths in Past Few Days

Schenectady, NY – The Schenectady Police Department today issued a warning and notice to residents regarding a spike in overdose fatalities this month. According to police, between Saturday, September 3rd and Wednesday, September 7th, the Schenectady Police Department responded to 4 suspected fatal overdoses.

“Though these still need to be confirmed through toxicology, that is 4 possible fatal overdoses in 5 days,” the department said.

At this time the department did not disclose whether or not before fatal incidents were related to the same drugs used or if the death suggests a bad batch of illegal drugs circulating in the community.

Ellis Emergency Department- Provides MAT and referrals to treatment, and CRPA (Certified Recovery Peer Advocate) support: Mon-Fri 8-4 with referrals to either Conifer Park or Catholic Charities outside of those hours.

The RSS/Ellis Living Room- (518) 831-1523. Provides an alternate to visiting Emergency Room for mental health crises.
