New Rochelle, NY – A burst of gunfire echoed through a New Rochelle neighborhood late Saturday night as multiple shooters exchanged shots across two nearby streets, prompting a police response and an ongoing investigation. Officers arriving on scene found evidence of a chaotic exchange but no confirmed victims at the location.
The incident unfolded at approximately 10:47 p.m. Saturday in the 50 block of Colonel Lee Archer Boulevard and at the intersection of Jacquetta Cole Street, according to the New Rochelle Police Department. Witnesses described multiple individuals firing weapons in the area before fleeing.
Scene secured as detectives recover evidence
Responding officers secured both locations and called in detectives to process the scene. A search of the area uncovered numerous spent shell casings, indicating a sustained exchange of gunfire.
“Witnesses reported multiple shooters exchanging gunfire in the area,” the New Rochelle Police Department said in a statement. “A thorough search of the location revealed numerous spent shell casings.”
Despite the intensity of the incident, no residents or bystanders reported injuries. Investigators believe at least one of the individuals involved in the shooting may have been struck.
Possible injury among suspects as investigation continues
“Detectives believe one of the shooters may have been grazed by a bullet before fleeing the scene,” the department stated. “No area residents or innocent bystanders reported any injuries as a result of the incident.”
The investigation remains active as detectives continue to review evidence and canvass the neighborhood for witnesses. Police said they are following up on leads to identify those involved.
