Baltimore man wins $50K Powerball prize after sister urges him to play
Baltimore, MD — A Baltimore tech worker who rarely plays the Lottery is now $50,000 richer — thanks to some sibling pressure and a set of randomly selected numbers that hit big in the Nov. 26 Powerball drawing.
The man, who works in information technology, said it was only at his sister’s insistence that he bought the Powerball tickets. He had never seriously played before but decided to pick up five quick pick tickets from the Harris Teeter store located at 1801 Whetstone Way in Baltimore.
One of those tickets matched four out of the first five numbers plus the red Powerball, earning him a third-tier prize of $50,000. Still unfamiliar with how the game works, he didn’t realize he’d won until his sister followed up with him the next day and pushed him to check his tickets.
After confirming the win, the man said he plans to use the prize money to get his finances in order. The win marks another significant prize from a Maryland Lottery ticket sold at a local grocery store.
