Linthicum, MD – A stolen vehicle alert triggered a swift police response in Linthicum Friday afternoon, leading to the arrest of two men and the seizure of suspected narcotics and cash. Officers located the vehicle parked at a motel, where the investigation quickly escalated into a drug-related arrest.
The incident occurred around 3:22 p.m. in the 5100 block of Raynor Avenue, when an officer received an Automated License Plate Reader alert for a reported stolen vehicle, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department. The officer tracked the vehicle, identified as a 2008 Kia Rio, to the parking lot of a Motel 6.
Officers recover stolen vehicle, detain occupants
Police confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen and detained both individuals inside. During the investigation, officers identified the driver and passenger and began a search that uncovered suspected illegal substances.
“An officer received an Automated License Plate Reader alert for a stolen vehicle in the 5100 block of Raynor Avenue in Linthicum,” the Anne Arundel County Police Department said. “The officer located the vehicle, a 2008 Kia Rio, in the Motel 6 parking lot and confirmed it had been reported stolen.”
Authorities said the driver was found in possession of multiple suspected narcotics and a significant amount of cash.
Suspected fentanyl, crack cocaine seized during arrest
“The driver was found to be in possession of approximately 27.17 grams of suspected crack cocaine, approximately 14.24 grams of suspected Fentanyl, approximately 1.02 grams of an unknown white powder, and $1,327 in cash,” police stated. “The driver and passenger were arrested and charged.”
Police identified the suspects as Jacori Talani Coates, 41, of Curtis Bay, and Horacio Silva, 57, of Hanover.
