SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – The police department of Suffolk County is pitching in to help the Ukrainian war defense effort after Russian President Vladimir Putin invaded the neighboring country 12 days ago. “The Suffolk County Police Department is doing its part to support the citizens of Ukraine during their time of need,” the department said. “Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Police Commissioner Rodney K. Harrison announced the donation of more than 750 decommissioned bulletproof vests to Ukraine on Monday to aid forces during the war with Russia.” The SCPD has a history of helping during wartime, the agency reported.

A Russian man was sentenced today for providing “bulletproof hosting” services, which were used by cybercriminals between 2009 to 2015 to distribute malware and attack financial institutions and victims throughout the United States. On Dec. 1, Chief Judge Denise Page Hood of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan sentenced Aleksandr Grichishkin, 34, of Russia, to 60 months in prison for the scheme.
