Teen shot in abdomen after gunfire erupts on High Street in Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, MD – A 17-year-old boy was rushed to a trauma center Tuesday evening after gunfire erupted along High Street, leaving shell casings scattered across the roadway and a nearby home damaged by bullets.

Officers responded at approximately 6:18 p.m. to the 700 block of High Street between Washington Street and Lincoln Terrace after receiving a Shot Spotter alert reporting multiple shots fired. While en route, officers were advised that a person had been shot.

Upon arrival, officers located a 17-year-old male from Cambridge suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen. Dorchester County EMS transported the victim to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Cambridge before he was flown by Maryland State Police Aviation to Shock Trauma for further treatment.

Investigators recovered multiple spent shell casings at the scene and identified a residence that sustained damage from the gunfire.

No suspect information has been released. The investigation remains ongoing and is being handled by the Cambridge Police Department Criminal Investigation Division.
