Teen struck in unprovoked Midtown attack, NYPD searching for suspect

MANHATTAN, NY – Police are investigating an assault that left an 18-year-old woman injured after she was struck in the head by a man on a Midtown street Sunday afternoon.

According to the New York City Police Department, the incident occurred around 12:11 p.m. on October 5 in front of 50 Lexington Avenue.

Investigators said the unidentified suspect approached the victim without warning and hit her in the head with an unknown object before fleeing the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

Emergency medical personnel responded and transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where she was treated for pain and swelling to her head and listed in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion, last seen wearing a black sweatshirt and black pants.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage and asking anyone with information to contact NYPD Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
