Meet Thor the loyal Shar-Pei mix waiting for his forever family in Ocean County
JACKSON, NJ – Northern Ocean County Animal Facility is calling for help for one of its long-waiting dogs. Thor, is hoping his perfect family will finally walk through the door.
Thor is a 5-year-old Shar-Pei and Cur mix weighing about 65 pounds. Described by shelter volunteers as both loyal and gentle, Thor has passed his assessments, knows his commands, and takes treats with care. He loves chasing balls, snack time, and spending time with people he trusts.
While he’s eager to please, Thor is a strong dog on the leash and is still practicing his walking manners with volunteers. Shelter staff recommend a home with adults or older teens. Thor may do well with some dogs after a proper introduction, but a cat-free home is best since felines make him nervous.

Thor is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Staff say he has come a long way since arriving at the shelter, transforming from a scared, anxious dog into a confident and affectionate companion.
Potential adopters can meet Thor at the Northern Ocean County Animal Facility, located at 615 Freemont Avenue in Jackson. The shelter is open daily from 1–4 p.m., with no appointment needed. Thor is also available for rescue groups.
