Baltimore police arrested three juveniles early Saturday morning after observing a commercial burglary in progress on York Road in the city’s Northern District.

At approximately 5:15 a.m., officers conducting surveillance in the 5800 block of York Road witnessed three suspects attempting to break into a commercial building. Police reported that the suspects successfully entered the store and began stealing merchandise before officers intervened.

When confronted by officers, the suspects attempted to flee on foot. Police apprehended all three individuals shortly after the attempted escape. The suspects were identified as a 12-year-old male, a 14-year-old male, and a 15-year-old male.

According to authorities, the 14- and 15-year-old suspects were transported to the Juvenile Justice Center. The 12-year-old was released to a guardian following the incident.

The department did not specify what items were taken or provide details about the business that was targeted.

Investigation ongoing following commercial burglary

The Baltimore Police Department stated that the arrests were the result of proactive surveillance efforts in the area. Officers have not released information on whether the suspects are linked to other incidents in the district.

Officials have not commented on whether charges have been formally filed or whether the juveniles will face court proceedings.

No injuries were reported in connection with the burglary or the subsequent arrests. The commercial building did not sustain significant damage according to initial assessments.

Police said the investigation remains open as they work to determine the full scope of the attempted burglary.
