The Democrats are trying to sell Tim Walz as a brilliant and beloved school teacher, but now they’re blaming his supposed bad grammar for what many are calling a “stolen valor” scandal. Walz, who taught English before entering politics, has found himself in hot water over claims he made about his military service.
Specifically, he stated that he “carried weapons of war” during his time in the National Guard—a statement that has been thoroughly debunked.
Walz has tried to explain away this exaggeration by suggesting that his grammar might not have been up to par, saying that he often speaks candidly and emotionally. However, this excuse has only fueled further criticism, as many see it as a weak attempt to deflect from the seriousness of his misleading claims. In reality, Walz never served in a combat zone, and his deployment experience was limited to non-combat roles in Italy.
Moreover, this isn’t the first time Walz has been accused of stretching the truth about his military background.
He has also incorrectly referred to himself as a “Retired Command Sergeant Major,” despite retiring as a master sergeant because he did not complete the necessary coursework for the higher rank.
