BRICK TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A Toms River man has been arrested and charged in connection with a series of commercial burglaries in Brick Township, police announced Tuesday.

Alfred John Oliveri Jr., 67, was taken into custody following an investigation by the Brick Township Police Department into multiple break-ins at local businesses. Chief David Forrester confirmed the arrest in a statement released May 20.

Oliveri faces six counts each of burglary and theft, five counts of criminal mischief, and five counts of possession of burglar’s tools. Police said he was lodged in Ocean County Jail following his arrest.

The burglaries, which occurred over the past month, shared several consistent patterns. According to investigators, the suspect was observed arriving by bicycle during overnight hours, using a rock to break glass windows before entering the businesses and removing items of value.

Surveillance footage and investigative leads reportedly helped identify Oliveri as the suspect. Authorities have not released the names or locations of the affected businesses.

Police said the use of similar tactics in each incident allowed detectives to link the crimes and focus the investigation. All reported incidents occurred after business hours and involved forced entry through glass doors or windows.
