PRINCE FREDERICK, MD – Calvert County officials are advising residents and visitors to expect road closures and traffic delays on Saturday, December 13, as the annual Calvert County Holiday Parade makes its way through downtown Prince Frederick.
The parade, hosted by Calvert County Parks and Recreation, will begin near the intersection of Church and Main Street before proceeding along Main Street, turning onto Duke Street, passing through the Prince Frederick Shopping Center, and returning via Church Street.
The event is expected to draw large crowds and affect local traffic throughout the morning.
Road closures to begin early Saturday morning
According to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, road closures along the parade route will start between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. and remain in place until about 1:00 p.m. Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes and exercise caution while traveling near the downtown area.
Deputies will be stationed at key intersections to direct traffic and ensure pedestrian safety during the event. Officials urged the public to follow posted detours and remain patient as temporary restrictions are lifted after the parade concludes.
Parking options for attendees
Free public parking will be available at several locations, including the Calvert County District Courthouse lot at 200 Duke Street, the lower lot of the Calvert County Circuit Courthouse at 175 Main Street, King Memorial Park at 30 Duke Street, and the lot at 15 Duke Street. Accessible parking will be offered at the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office lots on Church Street.
Drivers are reminded to allow extra travel time and expect heavy pedestrian traffic around the parade route.
