BOWIE, MD – Two 19-year-old men were injured in a shooting late Saturday night at Bowie State University’s Center for Business and Graduate Studies. Maryland State Police, who were present for security during the University’s Homecoming weekend, responded promptly at around 11:30 p.m.
Authorities emphasized that neither the victims nor the shooters appear to be students of Bowie State. Current evidence points to the shooting as an isolated event with no continuing threat to the campus community.
Both victims were swiftly transported for medical care by the Prince George’s County Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department. As of now, no other injuries have been reported.
The investigation is primarily led by the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division, in collaboration with multiple agencies including the Bowie State Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Baltimore Field Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. The Prince George’s County Police Department was also present in assisting at the scene.
