Two suspects charged in Staten Island convenience store armed robbery

NEW YORK, NY – Two suspects wanted for an armed robbery last Sunday at a Staten Island convenience store have been arrested.

Police charged 51-year-old James Christian and 36-year-old Jovani Garcia for a holdup that took place at Armstrong Convenience Store at around 7:20 pm on Hylan Boulevard.

Police released a video showing the suspects entered the store, and one pulled a gun and demanded CBD vape products. The store clerk, a 48-year-old man, refused to comply with the suspect’s demand.

The suspect then fired his gun multiple times at the worker and a customer who had just entered the store.

Neither was struck.

Police found evidence of gunfire in the store, with multiple shell casings and bullets lodged in the store shelves. A surveillance video captured the incident.

Christian was charged with attempted murder, attempted robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.

Garcia was charged with hindering prosecution.
