Juvenile robbers caught after threatening victims with gun
Baltimore, MD – Two 16-year-old girls were arrested in connection with a string of four robberies that took place Monday in Baltimore’s Central District, where victims were threatened at gunpoint and one person was assaulted, according to police.
The incidents unfolded on November 17 in the 400 and 800 blocks of North Charles Street and the Unit block of East Saratoga Street. Victims reported that a group of unidentified females approached and demanded their belongings while brandishing a handgun. One of the victims sustained minor injuries after being physically assaulted during the robbery.
Detectives from the Baltimore Community Intelligence Center quickly obtained surveillance footage of at least one of the incidents. Based on that footage, officers were able to identify and locate one of the suspects in the area of Light and Pratt Streets.
The first suspect, a 16-year-old female, was arrested at the intersection and was found to be in possession of property belonging to at least one of the victims. A second 16-year-old female was also taken into custody on an open warrant related to attempted theft in another jurisdiction.
Both juveniles were transported to Juvenile Booking for processing and formal charges.
Police have not released their names due to their ages. Investigators are working to identify any additional suspects connected to the incidents. No further injuries were reported, and the firearm used in the robberies has not yet been recovered.
