UTICA, N.Y. — Two men were arrested Tuesday night after attempting to flee a police stop on Huntington Street near Spring Street, with officers recovering two loaded firearms during the pursuit, authorities said.

Investigators from the GIVE (Gun Involved Violence Elimination) Unit, working alongside the Crime Prevention Unit, stopped a group of four individuals at approximately 9:45 p.m. in connection to recent gun violence incidents. As officers approached, two men in the group fled on foot, prompting a chase.

One suspect, Raymond Emery, 18, was apprehended on Court Street near Sunset Avenue. During his detention, police discovered a loaded revolver in his possession. The second suspect, Jaheim Bowman, 23, was apprehended a short distance away. Officers, using a K-9 explosives/firearms detection unit and thermal imaging equipment, located a loaded 9mm handgun discarded along Bowman’s flight path.

Both suspects were transported to the Utica Police Department, where they were charged with multiple weapons offenses, obstruction, and traffic violations:

Police credited the use of specialized technology, including thermal imaging, and the K-9 unit for swiftly locating the discarded weapon. Both firearms and suspects are now in custody as investigators continue their efforts to address gun violence in the area.
