UTICA, NY – On Wednesday, at approximately 4:15 PM, Utica Police and Utica Fire units were dispatched to a residence on the 700 block of Blandina St regarding an assault investigation involving two victims. Upon arrival, both victims were found suffering from blunt force injuries after having been repeatedly struck with a wood and metal object.

Information regarding the suspect’s identity was given to police, and the victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Officers went to the suspect’s location and made contact with him through a locked door.

The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Joshua Williams, refused to exit, prompting the request for crisis negotiators.

After approximately an hour of negotiation, Williams surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.

He was then transported to the Utica Police Department, where an investigator with the Criminal Investigations Division charged him with Assault in the second degree (x2) and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree.
