UTICA, NY — The Utica Police Department has released the names of the individuals tragically lost in the incident on Kingston Rd this Tuesday. The deceased have been identified as Donte Green, 26, and Sara Doody, 22, both residents of Utica. The community is in mourning, and thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this devastating event.

The incident unfolded on April 2, around 7:30 PM, when police and fire units rushed to the 400 block of Kingston Rd following reports of gunfire and injuries. Upon arrival, an officer encountered a male armed with a rifle and saw a victim on the ground. The situation escalated as the armed individual fired at the officer and then fled into a nearby house, where he subsequently took his own life.

At the scene, authorities found a male with non-life-threatening injuries, a fatally wounded female, and a two-year-old child, who was quickly secured and placed under the care of relatives. The injured male was transported to Wynn Hospital, while the female was pronounced dead at the scene.

Early investigations revealed that the deceased were former romantic partners and shared the child, with the injured male identified as the suspect’s grandfather.
