UTICA, N.Y. – An 18-year-old Utica man has been arrested after police say he was found in possession of a loaded handgun connected to a shots-fired incident earlier this month.
According to the Utica Police Department, officers arrested Chit Oo, 18, after identifying him as the person who displayed a firearm during a fight on the 1400 block of Neilson Avenue on October 13.
Investigators said at least one round was fired during the altercation before those involved fled the scene.

Investigators link suspect to firearm
The case was assigned to the department’s GIVE Unit (Gun Involved Violence Elimination). Detectives determined that a second handgun had been displayed during the altercation and later identified Oo as the suspect in possession of that weapon.
Police recover loaded handgun
Officers located Oo on October 20 and interviewed him as part of the investigation. Oo admitted to having the weapon in his residence, and officers secured a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber handgun loaded with a 14-round magazine.
Charges filed, investigation ongoing
Oo was charged with criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (high-capacity magazine).
