MINEOLA, NY – A West Hempstead man, Sharayda Washington, 26, was sentenced on Friday to 32 years to life in prison for a shooting in March 2019 that resulted in the death of a 16-year-old and injured another teen.
Washington killed Josiah Tucker, of Hempstead and injured another teen. Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced the sentencing.
On Wednesday, March 13, 2019, around 5:45 p.m., Washington, identified as a member of the Bloods, fired ten shots at a group of nine individuals who were part of the Crips.
The shooting occurred near 129 Jackson Street in Hempstead. The incident followed an altercation a week earlier between the rival gangs.
